Saturday night at the University of Missouri’s Carnahan Quad was a sight to behold as hundreds of people came to witness the alternative rock band The Neighbourhood perform a free show to commence the beginning of the University’s school year.
Fresh from performing at Lollapalooza, the California based band opened the show with “How,” before going into song from their recent album, I Love You., including “Afraid” and “Female Robbery.”
Front man Jesse Rutherford was very energetic, moving all over the stage. He also engaged with the audience, telling them that “[they’ve] never played in this part of Missouri, but [they’re] glad to be there,” and complimented the women in the audience, saying that “if [he] went to a school with women as beautiful as that, [he knew] where [he’d] be.”
The band then when on to play their “W.D.Y.W.F.M,” asking for the audience’s assistance by shouting “No!” repeatedly when signaled. From there they performed “A Little Death,” a older song from their EP Thank You, then finished the show with “Sweater Weather” and “Float,” the former of which had most of the audience singing along.
Despite there being slight technical issues involving Rutherford’s microphone, the band was able to overcome that issue quickly and still put on an amazing show that left attenders chanting their name loudly and screaming for an encore.
Opening Act More Like Georgia
