With the semester’s end and my return back home to Maryland, I figured that the best way to commence the summer was by attending the Panic! At the Disco show set for the Norva in Norfolk, Virginia.
Panic! At the Disco opened their steampunk-inspired show with their new single, “Ready to Go” as Urie sang and danced across the stage energetically danced across the stage. Things took a dark during “The Ballad of Mona Lisa;” the song played at a slower tempo than the mastered version off their album while the strobe lights left the stage in a dark green hue. The night once again reach a lighter mood with Urie’s solo acoustic performance of “Always,” followed by the past reminiscing “Memories” and fan favorite “I Write Sins, Not Tradgies.”
A key point occurred about halfway through the show: Fun. frontsman Nate Ruess came on stage and performed the song, “C’Mon” with Urie. Interestingly this was also the eighth show where both Panic! and Fun. had performed their joint single “C’mon” which was released on May 17th.
They didn’t leave out their older fans either. “Here’s a song for all the parents that came out tonight!” Urie exclaimed before the band began to play their video of “Carry On Wayward Son” before completing the show with “Nearly Witches,” which was a perfect send-off, just like the album.
Be sure to catch Panic! At the Disco during their Vices and Virtues Tour this summer!
